UFC 256: Cub Swanson vs. Daniel Pineda Play-by-Play

MMA veterans Cub Swanson and Daniel Pineda competed in the final preliminary fight at UFC 256. Their fight went like this.

Bout 5: Cub Swanson (26-11) vs. Daniel Pineda (27-13) (Featherweight)

Pineda was landing leg kicks early in the fight. He put together a clean two-punch combination in the second minute of the round. A leg kick wobbled Swanson in the second minute. Pineda slipped in the third minute, putting him on his back in the third minute. Swanson took half guard on top after Pineda held one of his legs for a moment. Swanson escaped an armbar attempt in the fourth minute, returning to the feet after. Pineda hurt Swanson again with a leg kick. Pineda scored a takedown in the fourth minute. Back up to the feet in the final minute of the round, Swanson landed a two-punch combo that dropped Pineda. After getting hit with a few punches on the ground, Pineda worked back up to his feet where he was clearly still wobbled. Swanson landed elbows late in the round.

Swanson dropped Pineda to a knee due to strikes in the opening minute of the second round. Leaving a clinch, Swanson landed an uppercut then a right cross that dropped Pineda, ending the fight.

RESULT: Cub Swanson def. Daniel Pineda via TKO, Strikes (RD 2, 1:52)
