UFC on ESPN+ 41: Deron Winn vs. Antonio Arroyo Play-by-Play

Fighting at a catchweight of 195-pounds, Deron Winn and Antonio Arroyo fought on Saturday’s UFC prelims. Their fight went like this.

Bout 5: Deron Winn (6-2) vs. Antonio Arroyo (9-3) (Catchweight 195 lbs)

Arroyo landed a hard leg kick and left hand early in the first round. Winn landed a takedown in the opening minute of the fight. The fight went back to the feet in the second minute of the round. Winn scored another takedown in the second minute. Arroyo looked for a triangle choke from his back, getting up to the feet after Winn escaped the attempt. Arroyo put together a couple of punches on the feet that seemingly wobbled Winn. Arroyo stopped a takedown attempt in the final minute of the round. Winn scored another takedown before the round ran out of time.

Winn scored a double leg takedown in the opening seconds of the fight. Arroyo got back to his feet in the second minute of the round. Winn ate a knee while charging forward for another takedown. Arroyo was able to stop an attempt, although he was taken down again in the second minute. Arroyo was visibly fatigued late in the round. Winn notched yet another takedown in the final minute of the round.

Winn put down his first takedown of the third round only 20 seconds in. The fight went to the feet in the second minute after Arroyo looked for a leg hold. Winn took the fight down again. Winn controlled the rest of the fight with more takedowns. Winn won after 15 minutes of action (29-28, 29-28 & 29-28).

RESULT: Deron Winn def. Antonio Arroyo via Decision, Unanimous
