Lightweights Mason Jones and Mike Davis have been awarded the UFC “Fight of the Night” performance for their three-round fight on Wednesday’s preliminary card. Along with their awards, “Performance of the Night” bonuses were given to Warlley Alves and Umar Nurmagomedov.
All award winners were given an extra $50,000 on top of their previously negotiated fight purse for their bouts at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The fight between Jones and Davis saw both fighters showcase their striking ability through three hectic rounds. Davis got the win, handing Jones, a former two-division Cage Warriors champ, his first loss as a pro.
Alves picked up his win in the co-main event, where he dropped Mounir Lazzez with a trio of body kicks. The win was Alves’ first since returning from injury.
Nurmagomedov won his UFC debut on the prelims, catching Sergey Morozov in the second round with a rear naked choke. The stoppage win came after a relatively dominant performance for Nurmagomedov.
