Jiri Prochazka vs. Dominick Reyes Removed From February 27th UFC Main Event, Replaced By Jairzinho Rozenstruick vs. Ciryl Gane

UPDATE 2/3/21: The article has been updated with an official UFC statement on the postponement of Prochazka vs. Reyes.

A light heavyweight main event between Jiri Prochazka and Dominick Reyes has been removed from UFC’s February 27th show. Taking their place will be heavyweights Jairzinho Rozenstruick and Ciryl Gane.

The changes to UFC’s February 27th card were first reported by Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.

UFC confirmed the withdrawal of the fight on February 3rd, citing an injury to Reyes as the reason. The promotion revealed that the plan is to reschedule the bout.

The fight between Rozenstruick and Gane was first scheduled for a March 13th card. To replace the vacant spot that was open following the departure of Prochazka and Reyes, it was bumped ahead by a few weeks and promoted from being a three-round fight to five.

The new main event joins a “Fight Night” card that does not have a location confirmed at the moment.

The fight will be Gane’s first in the main event spot since he joined the UFC in 2019. Gane earned his seventh win as an undefeated heavyweight in December, stopping Junior dos Santos in the second round of action.

Rozenstruick is returning after a win in August over dos Santos. The win saw Rozenstruick bounce back after taking his first loss as a pro to Francis Ngannou in May.

Rozenstruick made his main event debut in 2019, where he scored a buzzer-beating knockout against Alistair Overeem in the 25th minute of action.

Here is how UFC’s February 27th event looks with the new headlining bout in place.
