2/3/21 UPDATE: The article has been updated to reflect the breaking news of Sam Hughes’ short-notice booking.
Hannah Cifers won’t be competing on February 27th, as she has withdrawn from her fight against Emily Whitmire and been replaced by Sam Hughes. The cancelled bout was first reported by Nolan King and Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
The fight was scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Hughes will look for her first UFC victory in the short-notice bout. Hughes made her UFC debut in December losing a fight to Tecia Torres due to a doctor stoppage.
Hughes had a three-fight run in LFA before signing with the UFC.
Whitmire is on a losing streak of her own, albeit a smaller one of only two losses. Her last fight was in August of 2020, where she was caught in an armbar by Polyana Viana.
It is not known currently why Cifers withdrew from her fight.
Cifers was looking to snap a four-fight losing streak that was developed in 2020. Her fourth consecutive finish loss in the streak came against Mallory Martin in August.
