With injury forcing Johnny Walker out of a fight, Jimmy Crute is now being paired against Anthony Smith for an April 24th event. The new matchup for Crute was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight will join a UFC card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Crute needed a new fight after his March 27th opponent, Walker, had to withdraw due to injury. Per an article from Damon Martin of MMA Fighting, Walker suffered a torn pectoral muscle that caused him to exit his bout.
Smith snapped a two-fight losing streak in his last bout. Smith won his last fight in November, defeating Devin Clark with a second-round triangle choke. The fight was promoted to main event status on short notice after a fight between Derrick Lewis and Curtis Blaydes was cancelled.
Crute enters 2021 after two wins in the past year. Crute had a quick 2020, defeating both Michal Oleksiejczuk and Modestas Bukauskas within a round each.
UFC’s other fight booked for their April 24th card currently is a bout between Chris Weidman and Uriah Hall.
