Main event winner Derrick Lewis was among a group of four fighters given “Performance of the Night” bonuses for their wins at Saturday night’s UFC “Fight Night” event. Along with Lewis, fighters Chris Daukaus, Tom Aspinall and Aiemann Zahabi were also given $50,000 bonuses.
The fights took place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Lewis’ bonus was awarded to him for an upset knockout victory against Curtis Blaydes in the headlining bout of the card. A perfectly timed uppercut from Lewis folded Bladyes, who was shooting for a takedown, putting an end to their bout in the second round.
Daukaus earned yet another first-round stoppage victory on the main card, defeating Aleksei Oleinik with strikes. The win saw Daukaus connect with a flurry of punches that eventually forced the referee to stop the fight.
Aspinall kicked off the main card with a win against UFC veteran Andrei Arlovski. Earning his first submission win as a pro, Aspinall scored a takedown and quickly applied a rear naked choke in the second round for a tap.
Zahabi spoiled the UFC debut of Drako Rodriguez on the prelims, stopping him within a round with a right hook. The win snapped a two-fight skid that Zahabi had heading into the bout.
