Marcelo Rojo will make his UFC debut on March 13th, taking a short-notice bout against Charles Jourdain. Rojo will take the place of Steve Garcia, who was previously reported in the lineup. EntreRounds reported the matchup on Wednesday.
The featherweight bout joins UFC’s “Fight Night” lineup that is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Rojo will be getting his promotional debut after his prior booking fell through. The Argentinan fighter was scheduled to fight on Saturday’s UFC card, although he was removed from the lineup after his opponent, Raoni Barcelos, tested positive for COVID-19.
Rojo joins the promotion after an eight-fight run in regional promotion Combate Americas. His last bout was in September of 2019, where he defeated Victor Hugo Madrigal.
Jourdain will look to return to the win column after two close decisions have kept him out of the winners circle for over a year. Jourdain last fought in October, where he fought to a split draw against Joshua Culibao. His previous bout saw him drop a split decision to Andre Fili.
