UFC Flyweight Champion Deiveson Figueiredo is scheduled to give Brandon Moreno a rematch at the promotion’s June 12th event, per a report from Ariel Helwani of ESPN.
The location of the event, which will reportedly air on pay-per-view, is not known at the moment.
Moreno gets a rematch after giving Figueiredo his biggest challenge since becoming champ. Their first meeting, a bout at UFC 256, saw Moreno fight to a draw against the champ after five rounds.
The main event bout at UFC 256 was the first time that Figueiredo had fought past the first round since earning his belt earlier in the year.
Figueiredo retained his belt for the second time in the majority draw bout. His prior appearance was just a month before, where he stopped Alex Perez in the second minute of their fight with a guillotine choke.
Like the champ, Moreno entered his December fight just weeks after previously competing. The 27-year-old contender won an unofficial title eliminator bout at UFC 255, as a shoulder injury took Brandon Royval out of their bout late in the first round and gave him the victory.
Figueiredo earned the belt in July, submitting Joseph Benavidez to claim the vacant championship.
The championship lightweight bout is the first to be reported for a June 12th event.
