Gabriel Benitez and Jonathan Pearce will get the chance to build off recent wins in their next fight, as they have been matched for UFC’s May 1st event. Alexander K. Lee and Mike Heck of MMA Fighting confirmed the matchup first.
The featherweight matchup joins a UFC “Fight Night” card that does not have a location known at the moment.
Benitez snapped a two-fight skid in December, stopping Justin Jaynes within a round with strikes. The fight in May will be Benitez’s return to featherweight after competing twice at lightweight.
Pearce earned his first UFC victory back in November, defeating Kai Kamaka III late in the second round with strikes. Pearce had his five-fight regional scene win streak stopped in his UFC debut, where he lost to Joe Lauzon in 2019.
