Ciryl Gane could get the biggest challenge of his career on June 26th, as UFC are looking to book him against Alexander Volkov in a main event bout. Per a report from Brett Okamoto of ESPN, the fight has been agreed upon by both parties but has not been finalized.
Should the fight be made official, it would join a UFC “Fight Night” card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Gane is coming off winning his first-ever main event earlier this year, fighting five rounds against Jairzinho Rozenstruick for a unanimous decision victory. The win built on Gane’s undefeated career, which now has eight wins.
Volkov will also be returning after winning a main event fight early in the year. Volkov last appeared in February, where he stopped Alistair Overeem with strikes in the second round of what could’ve been a five round bout.
Prior to then, Volkov earned a stoppage win against Walt Harris at UFC 254.
If the main event becomes official, this is how UFC’s June 26th lineup would look:
Bout 5: Alexander Volkov (33-8) vs. Ciryl Gane (8-0) (Heavyweight)
Bout 4: Ovince St. Preux (25-15) vs. Maxim Grishin (31-9-2) (Light Heavyweight)
Bout 3: Anthony Hernandez (8-2) vs. Punahele Soriano (8-0) (Middleweight)
Bout 2: Tim Elliott (17-11-1) vs. Su Mudaerji (14-4) (Flyweight)
Bout 1: Michel Prazares (26-3) vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov (13-0) (Welterweight)
