Rising flyweight Miranda Maverick has been matched with Maycee Barber for UFC’s July 24th event, per a report from Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight joins a lineup that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Maverick has had a strong run since joining the UFC last year. The former Invicta FC vet made her UFC debut in October with a stoppage win over Liana Jojua. She returned in March, fighting to a unanimous decision win over Gillian Robertson.
The July matchup is incredibly important for Barber, who will look to avoid falling into a three-fight skid. Barber was given her second UFC loss in February, losing on scorecards to Alexa Grasso. The fight was Barber’s return, as her previous loss was over a year ago against veteran Roxanne Modafferi.
Barber was touted as one of the young prospects of the UFC before her losses, having attained three wins since joining the promotion in 2018.
UFC’s July 24th event does not have a main event booked for it currently. The sole other fight booked for the card, a bantamweight bout between Macy Chiasson and Aspen Ladd, was reported yesterday.
