Steven Peterson will get his return to the cage when fighting rising featherweight prospect Chase Hooper at UFC’s June 12th pay-per-view event. News of the matchup for UFC 263 was first reported by Cole Shelton of BJPenn.com.
The fight joins a lineup that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Peterson has been out of the cage for over a year now. His last fight dates back to September of 2019, where he earned a spinning backfist win over Martin Bravo. The victory snapped what was a two-fight losing streak at the time.
Hooper earned a comeback victory in his last showing, battling back from early striking issues against Peter Barrett to submit him in the third round with a heel hook. The win was his first since he took his first pro loss, which came against veteran Alex Caceres in June of 2020.
UFC 263 has two championship fights in its lineup currently. The most recently announced bout sees UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya fight Marvin Vettori.
