LFA 106: Silveira vs. Viana Preview

Closing out what has been a busy month for LFA, the promotion will showcase light heavyweights in the main event of an eight-fight card on Friday. The main event of the card is set to see undefeated fighter Joshua Silveira take on the returning Rafael Viana.

Here is a full preview of the broadcast, which is set to take place at the Grand Hotel Casino & Resort in Shawnee, Oklahoma, USA.

Preliminary Card (Facebook)

Bout 1: Ryan Charlebois (2-0) vs. Joseph Galaviz (2-2) (Welterweight)

Undefeated welterweight Ryan Charlebois makes his second appearance under the LFA banner when facing Joseph Galaviz in the sole preliminary fight.

Charlebois had a strong LFA debut last year, stopping Andrew Lipp within a round with strikes in July. The fight extended an undefeated record that Charlebois has held through his amateur and pro career.

Galaviz will attempt to earn his first win since 2018. His last three fights on the regional scene have resulted in two losses and one no contest.

Main Card (9:00PM EDT) (UFC Fight Pass)

Bout 2: Mando Gutierrez (4-1) vs. William Elliott (3-1) (Bantamweight)

Mando Gutierrez and William Elliott will both look to bounce back from their first pro loss when fighting in the opening bout of the main card.

Gutierrez last fought in September, where Mo Miller submitted him in the second round of a fight with a rear naked choke. Gutierrez was used to being on the other end of a fight like that, as his four matches as a rookie all ended in a submission win.

Elliott’s last fight dates back to a first-round loss he took against Tommy Espinosa in 2018 on a Ring of Combat card. Prior to then, Elliott had three wins as a pro from 2016 to 2017.

Bout 3: Trevor Wallace (4-0) vs. Bubba Grant (7-6) (Heavyweight)

Undefeated heavyweight Trevor Wallace will attempt to continue his streak of wins when facing Bubba Grant. Wallace won his LFA debut in quick fashion just two months back, stopping Cesar Gutierrez within a minute with strikes. The previous wins in his rookie pro year also all came via finish.

Grant, a 36-year-old MMA pro of nine years, will be making his first appearance since 2019. He snapped a two-fight losing streak when he last fought, defeating Chris Beal with strikes.

Bout 4: Genia Goodin (2-0) vs. Kathryn Paprocki (2-1) (Strawweight)

Former Invicta FC fighter Genia Goodin will make her LFA debut against Kathryn Paprocki on Friday. Goodin was undefeated in her two-fight Invicta FC run, defeating Valerie Wong and Shelby Koren on scorecards.

Paprocki is fighting for the first time after taking a loss to Invicta FC vet Emily Ducote in 2019. She hasn’t fought in MMA since then, although she recently competed in boxing last year, where she lost to Melissa Oddessa Parker, getting stopped in the sixth round of their bout.

Bout 5: Cheyden Leialoha (7-2) vs. Edwin Chavez (4-0) (Featherweight)

Undefeated Edwin Chavez will return to LFA when fighting Cheyden Leialoha on Friday.

Chavez has scored four wins since turning pro in 2019. While his most recent win was in another promotion, Chavez last appeared in LFA last fall, where he submitted Keilen Fantroy within a round with a rear naked choke.

Leialoha’s pro career includes two losses, although they’re both against notable opponents. His last fight was his second pro loss, as he dropped a fight on scorecards to Raufeon Stots on a Bellator show in late 2019.

Bout 6: Kyle Estrada (10-6) vs. Tyler Wilson (6-3) (Bantamweight)

Kyle Estrada and Tyler Wilson will both look to return to the win column on Friday’s main card.

Estrada has lost in his last two appearances in the LFA cage. His last fight, which took place in July, saw him get stopped in the second round by now-UFC fighter Kevin Natividad.

Wilson’s last fight dates back to 2019, where Matthew DiMarcantonio scored a decision win over him on a BTC card. Friday’s fight will be Wilson’s first for LFA.

Bout 7: Toninho Gavinho (10-4) vs. Terrance McKinney (8-3) (Lightweight)

Toninho Gavinho has the chance to gain his third consecutive LFA win when fighting Terrance McKinney in the co-main event.

Gavinho hasn’t fought in over a year, although his most recent appearances in LFA both resulted in victories. He last competed in LFA 80 in early 2020, where he defeated Josh Marsh via a split decision.

McKinney is getting a fight on Friday just a month after finishing Dedrek Sanders in only 16 seconds on a regional show. The fight snapped a two-fight skid, the longest losing streak that McKinney has faced in his pro career thus far.

McKinney’s two losses from 2019 saw him get finished by Sean Woodson and Darrick Minner, two fighters who are now on the UFC roster.

Bout 8: Joshua Silveira (4-0) vs. Rafael Viana (6-1) (Light Heavyweight)

Undefeated light heavyweight Joshua Silveira will fight to continue his red-hot momentum in the main event against Rafael Viana.

Silveira has had strong showings since joining the LFA roster last year. He has secured submission wins in both of his appearances thus far, defeating Fernando Alvarado and Matt Paul since the fall. Now with four wins as a pro, Silveira will look for his first win in the main event of a card on Friday.

Viana will be making his return to action after five years outside of the cage. His last fight dates all the way back to 2016, where Devin Clark defeated him in an RFA Light Heavyweight Championship bout. Now 36-years-old, Viana has the chance to start a new chapter in his career.
