UFC is currently looking to book a fight between ranked light heavyweights Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker for their September 25th card. News of the potential matchup was reported by Raphael Marinho of Combate on Wednesday.
Should the fight be finalized, it would land on a UFC card that does not have a location or other fights booked for it at the moment.
The fight will give Santos a chance to snap a losing streak that has come against some of the division’s best. The first loss in the streak came in 2019, where he lost a close fight to then-UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
He has fought twice since then, losing to Glover Teixeira in a main event bout and Aleksandar Rakic via decision.
His next opponent could be Walker, who recently got back to his winning ways. The 29-year-old snapped a two-fight skid in September, stopping Ryan Spann in the first round with strikes.
The victory only continued what has been seen in most of Walker’s winning performances: quick and explosive finishes.
