Two lightweight matchups have recently been reported for UFC’s July 17th “Fight Night” show. While the event currently has numerous fights in its lineup, the location for the show is not known.
Makhachev To Wager Win Streak Against Moises
Lightweight contenders Islam Makhachev and Thiago Moises are expected to appear at UFC’s July 17th show, per a report from Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
Makhachev is currently riding a strong seven-fight win streak that dates back to 2016. He picked up a notable victory earlier this year, submitting Drew Dober in the third round with a triangle choke.
His opponent, Moises, is entering the fight with the momentum of three wins since 2020. After scoring wins last year over veterans like Bobby Green and Michael Johnson, Moises defeated Alexander Hernandez via unanimous decision in February.
Former KSW Champ Gamrot To Face Stephens
Returning after picking up his first UFC win earlier this year, former KSW Champion Mateusz Gamrot is expected to face promotional veteran Jeremy Stephens. News of the fight was first broken by Farah Hannoun and Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
Gamrot scored his first UFC win last month, stopping Scott Holtzman in the second round of a bout with strikes. His previous appearance, his first in the UFC, was a huge upset, as Guram Kutateladze scored a split decision win over him. The fight was Gamrot’s first pro loss through 18 bouts.
The appearance will give Stephens the chance to earn his win since 2018. The experienced lightweight, who has appeared in the UFC for over a decade, has lost four of his last five appearances, with the other being a no contest result.
