Experienced heavyweight fighter Chris Barnett will make his UFC debut later this month, fighting Ben Rothwell on a May 22nd “Fight Night” card. The matchup was first reported by David Van Auken of Fight Bananas.
The fight joins a card that is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Barnett enters the UFC with already 27 pro MMA fights under his belt. His career includes 21 pro wins, including many in notable promotions like UAE Warriors, Road FC and RIZIN.
The record doesn’t account for his few appearances he has made under kickboxing and boxing throughout the years as well.
Barnett has been part of numerous viral videos during his career that includes clips from inside and outside fights. One of his most notable moments, a 2017 weight-in where he presented flowers to a Road FC ring girl, currently has 15 million views on Youtube.
Rothwell is getting the new matchup after a May 22nd matchup against Philipe Lins was cancelled the day before the event. He has struggled to get a fight this year, as now numerous bookings have fallen through.
Rothwell last competed in October, where he lost a decision to Marcin Tybura. The fight snapped a two-fight win streak for him.
