Bellator’s quickly approaching May 21st card has received some recent changes. Also, the promotion’s June 11th show has also been given two new bouts. A breakdown of all the recent changes to Bellator cards will be broken down in this issue of the Bellator Roundup.
All of the recent bookings join lineups that are set to take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA.
Three New Bouts Join Bellator 259
Two new bookings and the change of a previously made one have recently been made to Bellator 259.
Former UFC fighter Brett Johns will still compete on May 21st, although it will come against a new opponent. After original opponent Matheus Mattos withdrew from his fight due to a positive COVID-19 test, Johns will face Danny Sabatello, per a report from Alexander K. Lee and Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.
Sabatello gets the Bellator call-up after a strong showing in regional promotion Titan FC. As part of a four-fight win streak in the promotion, Sabatello gained their bantamweight belt last year.
Johns is joining the Bellator roster after putting together a two-fight win streak in the UFC during 2020.
LFA Welterweight Champion Maycon Mendonca will make his Bellator debut on the card, fighting Jaleel Willis.
Mendonca capped off a five-fight win streak in LFA with a title win in December, won in an all-out war against Batsumberel Dagvadorj.
He now faces Willis, who is coming off a win against Mark Lemminger from November.
Sumiko Inaba will return following her pro debut, facing Kristina Katsikis in a flyweight bout. Inaba had her first pro fight last year in Bellator, stopping Jessica Ruiz within a round with strikes.
Katsikis is getting the call to compete in Bellator after competing twice in Cage Titans in 2019.
Daley vs. Jackson Among Additions To Bellator 260
Two new matchups have been confirmed for Bellator’s June 11th card. Among them is a fight between rising welterweight Jason Jackson and veteran Paul Daley.
Jackson has made a strong climb up the welterweight division as of late, scoring decision wins over names like Neiman Gracie and Benson Henderson. Now on a four-fight win streak, he will move up to a catchweight of 175-pounds to face Daley.
Daley is getting a quick turnaround after winning a fight last month. He prevailed in a hectic battle in April, stopping Sabah Homasi in the second round with strikes. The fight was his first appearance since the October of 2019.
Both looking to return to the win column, Demarques Jackson and Mark Lemminger have been booked for a welterweight bout for Bellator 260.
Lemminger had a successful Bellator debut in July, defeating Jake Smith. However, he has since lost bouts to Yaroslav Amosov and Jaleel Willis.
Jackson lost his return in Bellator last month to Grachik Bozinyan.
