A UFC main event originally intended for May has landed on a July 24th card. Bantamweights TJ Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen are now set to meet in the main event of a “Fight Night” card in two months, per a report from Mike Bohn and Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
The new return date for Dillashaw against ranked bantamweight Sandhagen will take place at a card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
The fight was first set to happen in early May, although it was cancelled on short notice after Dillashaw suffered a cut during training. The fight was set to be Dillashaw’s first appearance since early 2019, where he lost a title fight to Henry Cejudo.
Dillashaw has been out of the cage for over two years while serving a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency suspension.
Sandhagen will be competing in his second main event as of late. He last headlined a card in October, where he stopped Marlon Moraes in the second round with a spinning back kick.
His last appearance was a fast showing, as he stopped veteran Frankie Edgar in the first minute of a bout with a flying knee in February.
