UFC’s June 5th ‘Fight Night’ Card Loses Three Bouts

UFC’s next event, a June 5th “Fight Night” card, has suffered numerous losses as of late. Three bouts have recently been scrapped from the lineup, leaving the show with 11 bouts in total for now. All changes were confirmed by Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA earlier this week, with further updates provided later by MMA Junkie.

The cancelled bouts were set to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

COVID-19 Takes Ribas vs. Hill Off Another Card

Amanda Ribas was removed from a strawweight fight against Angela Hill due to COVID-19. A follow-up report from Nolan King and John Morgan of MMA Junkie noted that Ribas is still dealing with the effects of contracting the virus, causing her withdrawal.

A fight between Ribas and Hill was first scheduled for a card in May, but pulled on short notice due to Ribas contracting COVID-19

Injury Takes Landwehr Out of Bout vs. Amirkhani

Featherweight Nate Landwehr has been removed from his fight against Makwan Amirkhani. The fight was removed from the card after Landwehr suffered an injury, per MMA Junkie.

While the plan is to find Amirkhani a new opponent, it is not known whether that slot will be filled.

Both fighters were attempting to come back after losing their previous appearance.

Pitolo Out of Fight Against Todorovic

It was announced during UFC’s May 22nd “Fight Night” broadcast that Maki Pitolo had withdrawn from a fight against Dusko Todorovic, citing injury. Todorovic is still in the lineup for the show currently, although it is not known if he will get a new opponent.

A heavyweight fight between Jairzinho Rozenstruick and Augusto Sakai is currently set to headline UFC’s June 5th card. While the promotion usually holds an event every week, they will take a week off from events before returning with the show.
