Fury FC Bantamweight Champion Mana Martinez will get his UFC debut on August 21st, facing Jesse Strader on a UFC “Fight Night” card. News of the matchup was first reported by Nolan King and Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
The fight joins a lineup that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Martinez has been Fury FC’s 135-pound champ since 2018 and has defended the belt three times in his promotional run. He has a reputation for ending fights quick, having only fought past the second round once in his pro career.
Martinez’s last fight, a 32-second win over Jose Johnson, took place on a card that UFC President Dana White was in attendance for.
Martinez had previously attempted to join the UFC roster on the 2020 season of “Dana White’s Contender Series,” where he lost a fight to Drako Rodriguez.
The fight in August will be Strader’s chance to earn his first UFC win. The Combate Global (formerly known as Combate Americas) vet lost his promotional debut in March, getting stopped within a round by Montel Jackson.
