Invicta FC’s one-night eight-woman bracket format will return on June 11th, with atomweights fighting for a future title shot. The promotion revealed the lineup for their “Phoenix Series” on Wednesday and are set to compete at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, USA.
The “Phoenix Series” event will be Invicta FC’s second event since they made the move to U.S. TV channel AXS TV earlier this year.
It was announced on Wednesday that Jessica Delboni, Jillian DeCoursey, Katie Perez, Katie Saull, Lindsey VanZant, Linda Mihalec, Paulina Granados and Tabatha Watkins will compete in a bracket.
Winner of the bracket will be guaranteed a fight against current Invicta FC Atomweight Champion Alesha Zappitella, per the press release.
The matchups for the opening round are not known currently – they will be drawn at a later date. Later to be unveiled is also who will compete in alternate bouts for the bracket.
The format that the “Phoenix Series” has used before will be the same, with small tweaks.
The first two rounds of the eight-woman tournament will be one-round MMA bouts. The finalists will compete in a three-round fight at the end of the night.
There will be incentive for fighters to get quick finishes, as the quickest winner in the quarterfinals will get to pick their semifinal opponent.
Invicta FC first launched their “Phoenix Series” in 2019 and has used the format three times in total. Their June 11th event will be the first time doing a one-night bracket with atomweight fighters.
