A series of big matchups have recently been reported for UFC’s September 25th card, including a high-stakes heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruick.
The clash gives two heavyweights a chance to continue their build towards a title fight. News of the bout was first reported by Damon Martin and Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.
Blaydes is coming off a main event loss earlier this year to Derrick Lewis. The fight saw Blaydes get stopped in the second round by a vicious uppercut from Lewis which knocked him out.
The headlining appearance from Blaydes snapped a four-fight win streak that he had at the time. The streak lasted two years and included two main event wins.
Rozenstruick is getting a new booking shortly after stopping Augusto Sakai in the first round of a main event bout earlier this month. The win came in the closing seconds of the round, where Rozenstruick dropped Sakai with a left hook.
The bout put Rozenstruick back into the win column after being swept on scorecards by Ciryl Gane earlier in the year.
Reports have recently surfaced regarding many other fights that are expected to happen on September 25th.
UFC Looks To Book Moraes vs. Dvalishvili
UFC are currently looking to match bantamweights Marlon Moraes and Merab Dvalishvili, per a report from Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
Moraes will be fighting to snap a two-fight skid that developed in late 2020. Moraes took his first loss of the current streak in October, getting stopped in the second round of a main event by Cory Sandhagen.
Moraes’ last fight was in late December, getting finished in the first round by Rob Font.
Dvalishvili will be fighting to continue what has been an impressive climb up the bantamweight division currently. After defeating Cody Stamann via unanimous decision last month, Dvalishivli moved his win streak to six consecutive.
Calvillo vs. Andrade Booked For 266
Returning for the first time after losing a title fight, Jessica Andrade will meet Cynthia Calvillo in a flyweight bout. News of the bout was first reported by Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes.
Andrade lost a UFC flyweight title shot two months ago, getting finished in the second round by Valentina Shevchenko. The fight was the former strawweight champ’s second fight since making the move up to 125-pounds.
Calvillo is also coming off a loss, having dropped a decision to Katlyn Chookagian in November. Similar to Andrade, the fight was only her second at the flyweight class.
Fiorot Looks To Continue Streak Against Bueno Silva
Rising flyweight Manon Fiorot will fight to continue her undefeated UFC run when facing Mayra Bueno Silva in September, per Diego Ribas of AgFight.
Fiorot won her UFC debut early this year, stopping Invicta FC vet Victoria Leonardo with strikes. She picked up her second win earlier this month, finishing former LFA fighter Tabatha Ricci.
Bueno Silva is returning after fighting to a draw against Montana De La Rosa in February.
