UFC is persistent in making a rematch between Tecia Torres and Angela Hill, having re-booked the bout for their August 7th pay-per-view event. The fight will be part of the UFC 265 lineup, per a report from MMA DNA.
The fight joins a card that does not have a confirmed lineup at the moment.
The first meeting between Hill and Torres dates back to 2015, where Torres fought to a unanimous decision win at UFC 188. The bout was only Hill’s third fight as a pro and was Torres’ sixth consecutive win in what was an undefeated record at the time.
UFC had previously attempted to make the rematch between Hill and Torres in late 2020, placing them on the UFC 256 lineup. The fight was later scrapped from that lineup after Hill contracted COVID-19.
Torres was still able to fight in that lineup, defeating promotional newcomer Sam Hughes due to doctor stoppage after one round. The fight was her second win in the year.
COVID-19 troubles have continued to affect Hill’s fights since her thrown out bout in December. The 36-year-old has gotten three different bouts cancelled this year due to COVID-19 protocol, including two recent bookings against Amanda Ribas.
Hill has been able to compete once this year, fighting to a decision win over Ashley Yoder in March.
UFC Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes is expected to face Julianna Pena in the main event of UFC 265. Here is how the lineup looks currently.
