Undefeated middleweight Tresean Gore succeeded in his first performance on Season 28 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” defeating Ryder Newman via unanimous decision. Their fight aired for the first time on Tuesday’s episode of the show, which is the third of the season thus far.
Gore’s win came from his ability to score with strikes and stop the numerous takedown attempts that Newman had.
Gore marched forward throughout the bout, landing jabs and leg kicks to Newman, along with other shots that connected. Newman tried many times to take the fight to the ground, although Gore stopped every attempt.
The win made Gore the second middleweight to advance this season. The first fighter to advance was Andre Petroski, who won on the season premiere two weeks back.
Gore entered the season with an undefeated three-fight pro record. He first competed professionally in 2018 and has scored two stoppage wins through his three appearances.
Newman entered with a similar record of three wins and one loss. He joined the “TUF” cast following a strong run in 2020 that saw him score two decision wins.
It was announced afterward that undefeated bantamweight Dustin Lampros will face “Dana White’s Contender Series” alum Vince Murdock on next week’s epsiode. A win for Murdock would continue what has been a shutout for Team Ortega on the show thus far, as his lineup has won three straight bouts.
