Shining in an overtime round of action, Ricky Turcios defeated Dan Argueta on this week’s episode of UFC TV show “The Ultimate Fighter.” The win made Turcios the third bantamweight to make it into the semi-finals of the show so far.
The bantamweight bout was a scrappy battle through the first two rounds. Both fighters connected with flurries of punches on the feet, also hitting the ground briefly as well.
Turcios dominated the final round, spending the majority of the time on the back of Argueta. After trying for a choke for most of the round, he finished the round strong with ground and pound from the top.
Turcios now joins Vince Murdock and Liudvik Sholinian in the round of four for the bantamweight division.
Turcios has fought as a pro since 2013, having attained 10 wins through 12 fights. He entered this season of “TUF” after making his return in early 2020, defeating Kaleb Petereit on a Fury FC card.
Argueta joined this season of “The Ultimate Fighter” with an undefeated pro record of five fights. He most recently fought on an LFA card, defeating Jackson Filho via unanimous decision last year.
The show will remain in the bantamweight division next week, as Joshua Rettinghouse and Brady Hiestand will compete for the final spot in the semi-finals. The matchup is an interesting one, as it sees an experienced pro of over 20 fights in Rettinghouse face Hiestand, who has fought only six times.
