Mackenzie Dern To Make UFC Main Event Debut Against Marina Rodriguez on October 9th

Mackenzie Dern is set to make her UFC main event debut on October 9th, facing Marina Rodriguez in the headlining bout of a “Fight Night” card. The five-round fight was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

The matchup joins a card that does not have a confirmed location currently.

Dern is currently on an impressive run up the strawweight division, having scored four victories in just over the past year. The 28-year-old has a specialty in grappling and has submitted four opponents since joining the UFC in 2018.

Dern picked up another armbar victory in her last appearance, stopping Nina Nunes in the first round.

Rodriguez has a chance to earn a win in her second consecutive main event. The rising strawweight moved up a weight class in her previous appearance to defeat Michelle Waterson in May. The win came a few months after she defeated Amanda Ribas in the second round of a pay-per-view bout with strikes.

Just a few fights have been confirmed for UFC’s October 9th show thus far. Here is how the lineup looks:

Bout 3: Marina Rodriguez (14-1-2) vs. Mackenzie Dern (11-1) (Strawweight)

Bout 2: Lupita Godinez (5-1) vs. Sam Hughes (5-3) (Strawweight)

Bout 1: Chris Gutierrez (16-3-2) vs. Felipe Colares (10-2) (Featherweight)
