Both returning after losing high-profile fights, light heavyweights Jamahal Hill and Jimmy Crute will be matched for UFC’s October 2nd event. The new matchup was first confirmed by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight joins a card that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.
Parallels can be drawn in the last appearance by both light heavyweights. Being paired in what were considered step-up bouts, they suffered brutal injuries that caused losses.
Due to a disfigured leg, Crute was taken out of his fight against Anthony Smith after a round in April. The injury caused Crute to fall many times in-between rounds, resulting in a doctor stoppage.
Hill had his undefeated streak broken last month when he lost to Paul Craig. His bout against Craig finished within a round due to an arm injury that likely came due to an armbar. Craig used ground and pound strikes to earn the stoppage.
The light heavyweight division will also headline UFC’s October 2nd card, as Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker are set to compete in the main event. Here is how the card looks currently.
Bout 7: Thiago Santos (21-9) vs. Johnny Walker (18-5) (Light Heavyweight)
Bout 6: Joe Solecki (11-2) vs. Jared Gordon (17-4) (Lightweight)
Bout 5: Karol Rosa (14-3) vs. Bethe Correia (11-5-1) (Bantamweight)
Bout 4: Diego Ferreira (17-4) vs. Grant Dawson (17-1) (Lightweight)
Bout 3: Sean Soriano (14-7) vs. Fernando Padilla (14-4) (Featherweight)
Bout 2: Kevin Holland (21-7) vs. Kyle Daukaus (10-2) (Middleweight)
