A heavyweight bout between Chris Daukaus and Shamil Abdurakhimov has been pushed ahead by a week due to COVID-19 protocols. The bout was first set to happen on July 24th but is now expected to happen on July 31st, per a report from Damon Martin of MMA Fighting.
The fight still has the same location set for it, as both events are planned to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Daukaus revealed the postponed bout via social media on Monday.
“Mondays suck,” Daukaus said via Twitter. “Fight is being postponed until July 31st!”
Daukaus will have to wait an extra week to defend his undefeated UFC run. The 31-year-old heavyweight has scored three wins since joining the roster last year. His most recent victory was a first-round stoppage over Aleksei Oleinik in February.
Abdurakhimov will be making his return in the bout. He last fought in 2019, where he lost to high-ranked fighter Curtis Blaydes.
The change brings UFC’s July 24th lineup down to 12 fights in total. The card is currently set to be headlined by bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and TJ Dillashaw.
