Cody Garbrandt’s flyweight debut has a new date and opponent, as he is now expected to face Kai Kara-France on December 11th. The new matchup was reported on Monday night by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight joins a card that does not have a confirmed location currently. It is also the first bout to be reported for a December 11th date.
Garbrandt, a former UFC Bantamweight Champion, will be dropping down by a weight class for the first time in his career. He was originally set to make his first flyweight appearance in November of last year, facing then-champion Deiveson Figueiredo. That plan, however, collapsed after Garbrandt suffered an injury.
Garbrandt has fought once since then, as he lost a five-round fight to Rob Font in May.
Kara-France scored his first stoppage UFC win in his last appearance. He last appeared in March, where he finished Rogerio Bontorin within a round. The bout moved his promotional record to five wins and two losses.
