Paulo Costa vs. Marvin Vettori Headliner, Two More Fights Announced For October 23rd UFC Card

Three fights, including a main event between middleweights Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori, have recently been reported for UFC’s October 23rd event. The new fights join a show that does not have a confirmed location at the moment.

Costa To Make Return Against Vettori

Former middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa is scheduled to make his return in the main event against Marvin Vettori, as first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Costa’s last fight was in September 2020, where UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya stopped him in the second round with strikes. The fight was Costa’s first pro loss, snapping a 13-fight winning streak that included five previous appearances in the UFC.

Costa has been booked for two main event fights since then, although they have both fallen through.

Vettori is also coming back after a title fight. He went five rounds with Adesanya earlier this year, losing a unanimous decision after 25 minutes of action.

Vettori was given the title shot after a strong five-fight win streak in the division which included two main event victories.

Rose-Clark Comes Back From Injury Against Edwards

Competing for the first time since getting surgery on her ACL, Jessica Rose-Clark will meet Joselyne Edwards in October, per Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

Rose-Clark last fought in September 2020, where she snapped a two-fight losing streak with a stoppage victory over Sarah Alpar. The fight was her first win since 2018.

Edwards will be looking to bounce back from her sole UFC loss, which came in February against Karol Rosa. The bout was just weeks after she won her debut against Wu Yanan.

Rising Flyweight Lacerda To Debut Against Molina

25-year-old flyweight prospect Daniel Lacerda will get his UFC debut in October when facing Jeff Molina. The fight was first reported by Marcelo Barone of Combate.

Lacerda is joining the UFC on a three-fight streak of stoppage wins from the Brazilian regional scene. He only has one loss through 12 fights since making his pro debut in 2017.

Molina had a successful UFC debut earlier this year when he fought to a unanimous decision win over Aoriqileng. Molina was joining the UFC roster after a win on TV show “Dana White’s Contender Series” last year.
