Lightweight contender Islam Makhachev will look to continue his extensive win streak when facing Rafael dos Anjos at UFC’s October 30th pay-per-view card. News of the high-level lightweight tilt was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The fight joins UFC 267, which is reportedly expected to happen in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Makhachev currently has an eight-fight win streak, which is the longest active streak of wins at lightweight other than current champion Charles Oliveira’s 12 consecutive victories.
Makhachev is getting the new booking after earning his first main event victory earlier this year. The 29-year-old fought Thiago Moises in July, finishing him in the fourth round of action with a rear naked choke.
He scored another submission win in March, defeating Drew Dober with an arm triangle choke. The fight was his first appearance since 2019.
Dos Anjos has been paired against Makhachev twice before, although both bookings fell through. They were previously set to headline a UFC card in November of 2020, although plans changed after Makhachev withdrew due to an injury.
Dos Anjos still competed on that card, defeating Paul Felder via split decision to snap a two-fight losing streak.
Two title fights are currently set to headline UFC 257. Here is the updated lineup:
Bout 5: Aljamain Sterling (20-3) vs. Petr Yan (15-2) (UFC Bantamweight Championship)
Bout 4: Jan Blachowicz (28-8) vs. Glover Teixeira (32-7) (UFC Light Heavyweight Championship)
