A light heavyweight bout between Magomed Ankalaev and Volkan Oezdemir has been moved ahead a month and is now expected to take place at UFC’s October 30th pay-per-view event. The new date for the matchup was reported by Marcel Dorff on Monday.
The fight joins UFC 267 – a card that is expected to take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The matchup between Ankalaev and Oezdemir was first expected to happen on September 4th. It is not known why the bout was moved ahead recently.
Ankalaev is currently on a strong run at 205-pounds, having won six consecutive bouts since 2018. Coming off a two-fight rivalry with Ion Cutelaba in 2020, Ankalaev kicked off this year with a unanimous decision victory over Nikita Krylov.
The booking sees Oezdemir make his first appearance in over a year. His last bout dates back to July of 2020, where former RIZIN Light Heavyweight Champion Jiri Prochazka finished him early in the second round with punches.
The former UFC title challenger had developed a two-fight winning streak before losing last year.
