UFC rookie Liliya Shakirova has been slapped with a two-year suspension by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
A recent announcement by the program stated that Shakirova tested positive for meldonium, which “is a non-Specified Substance in the category of Hormone and Metabolic Modulators” that is prohibited under the system.
Shakirova’s suspension started on December 5th, 2020, which means she will be ineligible to compete until December 2022.
Shakirova joined the UFC roster on short notice last year to fight Lauren Murphy at UFC 254. She was stopped in the second round of their bout, getting submitted by Murphy with a rear naked choke.
Shakirova, 29, entered the promotion on a three-fight winning streak.
