Karl Roberson Out of UFC 266 Fight Against Nick Maximov, Replaced By Cody Brundage

Karl Roberson has been forced out of his September 25th pay-per-view event fight against Nick Maximov, although a replacement opponent has already entered the picture. Fellow UFC newcomer Cody Brundage will enter the promotion to face Maximov at UFC 266, per a report from Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA.

The fight joins a card that is expected to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Roberson took to social media Wednesday to mention his withdrawal from the card, mentioning that weight cut issues played into his departure from the lineup.

“These weight cuts really don’t agree with me anymore,” said Roberson in an Instagram post. “I’m pretty sure I f***** my body up from cutting weight wrong early in my career.”

Roberson was looking to snap a two-fight losing streak that has developed over the past two years.

The UFC call-up for Brundage pulls him from a bout on “Dana White’s Contender Series” that he was expected to have next month. He enters the UFC with a pro record of six wins and one loss, including a recent submission win over Joseph Kropschot on an LFA card.

Maximov will also be making his UFC debut. He currently holds a flawless record of six wins, with all but one coming via stoppage within two rounds.

The middleweight, which has before been dubbed as a protege of the Diaz brothers, will be competing on the undercard before Nick Diaz faces Robbie Lawler on the main card.

UFC 266 is now only 13 fights in total due to a recent flyweight bout falling off the lineup. Here’s how the card looks.
