ONE Championship’s 115-pound Grand Prix will come to a close late this year, as finalists Stamp Fairtex and Ritu Phogat will compete at “Winter Warriors” on December 3rd.
The fight is set to be part of a live ONE Championship broadcast next month from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
The promotion’s bracket has quickly progressed, having first launched back in September. However, it hasn’t been without numerous issues.
Phogat and Stamp both advanced past the semi-finals in late October, although their opponents in that round were both short-notice fill-ins for previous matchups.
Fairtex avenged her sole pro MMA loss in the opening round of the tournament, defeating Alyona Rassohyna via split decision in September.
Phogat’s first-round win came against one of the more experienced fighters in the bracket, Meng Bo.
The winner of the tournament is expected to face the returning champion Angela Lee sometime next year.
Kickboxers Eersel and Murtazaev To Headline Card
ONE Championship’s “Winter Warriors” event will be headlined by a kickboxing title fight between Regian Eersel and Islam Murtazaev.
In the booking, Eersel will attempt to defend his 170-pound ONE Championship belt for the third time. He first gained the belt in 2019 with a decision win over Nieky Holzken.
Eersel’s last fight came early this year, defeating Mustapha Haida on scorecards.
The title fight will be Murtazaev’s ONE Championship debut. He was originally set to face Eersel in March, but that iteration of the fight didn’t come to fruition.
Another kickboxing bout is set to happen in the fourth bout of the card, as Glory of Heroes veteran Qiu Jingliang will get his first ONE Championship fight against promotional vet Hiroki Akimoto.
Heavyweight Clash Among Three Other MMA Bouts Confirmed
Along with the Grand Prix final, three other MMA bouts are expected to happen at ONE Championship’s early December event.
Looking to bounce back from a loss he took in a title fight earlier this year, Timofey Nastyukhin will meet the returning Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev. Both fighters are competing for the first time since facing ONE champion, Christian Lee.
Hot off a successful MMA debut, grappling ace Marcus Almeida will face undefeated finisher Kang Ji Won.
The opening bout will extensive winning streaks collide, as bantamweights Hu Yong and Yuya Wakamatsu will fight.
