UFC President Dana White revealed Wednesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in quarantine.
White announced his recent case of COVID-19 on “The Jim Rome Podcast.”
White mentioned that he suspects he contracted the virus after attending a family Thanksgiving event over the weekend in Maine, USA.
“Somebody [there] had it, and we get back, and we all tested positive for COVID[19],” said White in his podcast appearance. “Literally the whole family and my family up in Maine, too.”
White, who says he is vaccinated against COVID-19, described mild symptoms of the virus, citing loss of taste and smell.
The UFC President claims he is taking advice from commentator Joe Rogan for dealing with COVID-19. This treatment includes monoclonal antibodies, a vitamin drip, and the controversial drug ivermectin.
Rogan tested positive for COVID-19 in September. At the time he mentioned he took a series of medications to treat the virus – this included ivermectin, which the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned can be dangerous when taken in high doses and showed no signs of being an effective treatment for COVID-19.
White hopes to attend this weekend’s UFC “Fight Night” card in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA if he can get a negative COVID-19 test result by then.
