Bellator will host an eight-man tournament at bantamweight next year, with the winner exiting as a champion and a millionaire. The promotion announced the new grand prix on Friday night at Bellator 272 in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA.

The bracket is set to include Magomed Magomedov, James Gallagher, Leandro Higo, Patchy Mix, Raufeon Stots and Juan Archuleta.

The tournament will also have Bellator Bantamweight Champion Sergio Pettis and RIZIN Bantamweight Champion Kyoji Horiguchi – who both headlined Friday’s card.

It is unknown at the moment who will fight who in the opening round or when it will start exactly, although the promotion mentioned Friday that it is set to begin in 2022.

The new tournament continue’s Bellator’s tradition of hosting tournaments. They wrapped up a 16-man featherweight tournament earlier this year, with undefeated fighter AJ McKee Jr. dethroning Patricio Pitbull in the finals.

The promotion is also currently running a light heavyweight tournament. The finals, which is set to be between Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson, is expected to happen next year.
