Injury Takes Julia Avila Out of December 18th UFC Bout Against Raquel Pennington

UFC’s last event of the year has lost a bout. Julia Avila has reportedly withdrawn from her December 18th fight against Raquel Pennington, per Drake Riggs of MyMMANews.

The fight was set to happen at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

A knee injury was what reportedly took Avila out of the fight. She was coming off a third-round rear naked choke submission that she earned against former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Julija Stoliarenko in June.

With just under two weeks until her fight, it is unknown whether Pennington will get a new opponent. She is currently on a two-fight winning streak, having beat Marion Reneau and Pannie Kianzad in her last appearances.

UFC’s December 18th card is currently set to be headlined by heavyweights Chris Daukaus and Derrick Lewis.
