Houston, Columbus Among Locations Set For First Quarter of 2022 UFC Schedule

UFC has recently revealed the location for a series of upcoming events next year, including three pay-per-view broadcasts and their first “Fight Night” card outside of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in over a year.

The new locations were announced during the UFC 269 broadcast on Saturday night.

UFC To Kick Off 2022 At The APEX

UFC will utilize their studio location on January 15th, presenting a “Fight Night” card from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The event, which is scheduled to be their first of the year, is currently set to be headlined by featherweights Calvin Kattar and Giga Chikadze.

UFC has heavily relied on their studio location amid the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting the majority of their events there between 2020 and 2021.

UFC Returns To Anaheim For January 22nd PPV

UFC will hold their first pay-per-view event of the year on January 22nd, presenting UFC 270 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA.

UFC confirmed a title unification bout for the card, as UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou will meet interim titleholder Ciryl Gane. The card is also reportedly set to have a flyweight title fight between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo.

UFC Returns To Houston For February PPV

UFC will present UFC 271 just a few weeks later, holding the event on February 12th from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, USA.

A previously rumored rematch between UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker was announced by the promotion on Saturday. However, a cryptic tweet later that night from Adesanya insinuated that the fight might not be set to go after all.

UFC visited Houston twice in 2020, hosting UFC 262 and UFC 265 at the Toyota Center.

Early March PPV To Happen In Las Vegas

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA will get its first event of the year on March 5th, as UFC 272 will take place on that date. While a couple of fights have been confirmed for that card thus far, the main event is unknown at the moment.

Return To Columbus Announced, Marking First ‘Fight Night’ Outside of Vegas Since Early 2021

UFC “Fight Night” events will hit the road early next year, as the promotion will present a card on March 26th from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz will return in the main event of that card, facing rising prospect Aleksandar Rakic in a five-round contest.

The show is currently the first “Fight Night” card to take place outside of Nevada since early 2021.

Location of Five Events Remain Unknown

Saturday’s announcement did not touch on many events that are reportedly happening in the first quarter of 2022.

The location for UFC’s February 5th, 19th and 26th cards, along with their March 12th and 19th shows is still not known at the moment. While rumors suggest that UFC is planning a return to London, England on March 19th, the promotion has yet to confirm that plan.
