UFC Alum Eric Shelton Takes Decision Win Over Jacob Silva At Fury FC 55

Former UFC fighter Eric Shelton used his wrestling skills to defeat Jacob Silva on Sunday night via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 & 30-27). The fight headlined Fury FC 55, which took place from the Houston Arena Theater in Houston, Texas, USA.

Shelton took Silva down in every round, giving him numerous minutes of control time. He especially controlled in the final round, closing out a strong performance against Silva.

Shelton has now earned three wins and one loss since exiting the UFC in 2019. His previous fight was in May of this year, where he beat Rilley Dutro.

Silva now has a pro record of eight wins and seven losses. He was riding the momentum of a win from his previous fight, beating Tyler Bialecki in October.

UFC Alum Cruz Returns To Win Column

Former UFC fighter Aalon Cruz snapped a losing streak, putting away Matt Mooney in the first round with strikes.

Cruz landed damaging ground and pound strikes against Mooney in the opening round that caused damage and made the referee end the bout eventually.

The quick win was Cruz’s first appearance since a UFC run that resulted in two finish losses.

Mooney made his return to action earlier in the year, submitting Alex Black in July.

Vera Earns Nod Over Caballero For 10th Win

Carlos Vera walked away with a decision win against Peter Caballero, prevailing after a back-and-forth grappling battle through three rounds.

Both fighters took control time on the ground, but it was Vera who was in the driver’s seat for most of the fight.

He went the distance in his previous fight as well, defeating Cody Freeman in September.

Caballero entered the fight on a strong three-fight winning streak.

Sadykhov Continues Winning Streak With Stoppage Against Deleon

Nazim Sadykhov finished his year with a stoppage win on Sunday night, as he took out JC Deleon late in the third round with strikes.

Sadykhov was able to close out the fight in the final round by moving into full mount and unloading with ground and pound shots. After scoring with strikes from the position for most of the round, the referee stepped in and put and end to the bout.

Deleon succeeded earlier in the fight in stand-up striking positions.

Sadykhov has now picked up five straight wins. He won his Fury FC debut in October, defeating John Herrera via submission.

Deleon was making his pro debut on Sunday night.

Moniz Stops Perez Within A Minute

Kale Moniz continued his streak of finish wins, finishing Stephen Perez with punches in the opening minute.

Moniz dropped Perez with an overhand right. He then followed up with a few shots on the ground before a referee stepped in and stopped the bout.

Moniz is now on a four-fight winning streak of finishes. He handed Josh Walker his first pro loss two months prior, submitting him at Fury FC 52.

Perez was also coming off a quick win, submitting Chris Kuntschik in August. He had a two-fight losing streak before then.

Jackson Submits Van In Pro Debut

Devon Jackson won his pro debut to open the main card, showcasing dominant grappling skills in a fight against Joshua Van.

Jackson submitted Van late in the second round of their fight, slipping in a rear naked choke that caused a tap. The tap came after a controlling performance from Jackson that saw him attempt numerous submissions on the ground.

Jackson was turning pro after attaining an amateur record of five wins and one loss. His sole amateur loss came against Bellator prospect Jaylon Bates.

The fight on Sunday was Jackson’s first appearance since 2019.

Van entered the weekend with a pro record of two wins and no losses. His previous win came just last month, stopping Chase Eastham with strikes.
