Former UFC, Bellator Fighter Maiquel Falcao Dead At 40 Following Stabbing

Former UFC and Bellator fighter Maiquel Falcao has reportedly passed away after being the victim of a stabbing on early Sunday morning.

Falcao, 40, was reportedly stabbed multiple times at a bar in Pelotas, Brazil. He was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. GZH first reported the news. The story was later confirmed by Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.

Falcao was an MMA veteran of 60 fights. This included his sole UFC appearance, which was a unanimous decision win over Gerald Harris in 2010. He was later released by the UFC after the promotion learned about an assault charge he was previously arrested for.

Falcao also fought in Bellator four times. He was given a middleweight title shot in 2013, facing Alexander Shlemenko after attaining a three-fight winning streak in the promotion.

Falcao’s career spanned over a decade, debuting in 2004 and remaining active in recent years. His last appearance was in October 2021, when he fought Nemanja Uveric on a card in Serbia.
