Bellator 273 Loses Fabricio Franco vs. Weber Almeida Following Weigh-Ins

Bellator’s January 29th card has lost a fight following a large miss on the scales at Friday’s weigh-ins. A featherweight fight between Weber Almeida and Fabricio Franco has been removed from the card, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.

The fight was scheduled to be part of the prelims at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Franco missed the featherweight limit by over five pounds on Friday. This caused the fight to be removed from the lineup, per info that was relayed from the commission.

Franco was making his Bellator debut. He had a seven-fight winning streak broken in his last bout, losing to Miguel Villegas on a Combate Global card.

Almeida was fighting to bounce back from his sole pro loss, which he took against Johnny Soto at a May 2021 Bellator event.

Saturday’s Bellator event is set to be headlined by a heavyweight title unification bout between Ryan Bader and Valentin Moldavsky.
