A slight change has been made to this weekend’s UFC “Fight Night” card. Brendan Allen has reportedly stepped in to replace Phil Hawes in a fight against Sam Alvey, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.
The new matchup is set to happen at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
An injury reportedly forced Hawes out of this fight, causing the change in the lineup. On just a few days’ notice, Allen will be stepping in to compete. Due to the short-notice nature of this bout, the middleweights will be fighting up at the light heavyweight class.
Allen will be fighting to bounce back from a stoppage loss he took against Chris Curtis in December. He had a successful year before then, having earned two stoppage wins.
With a new opponent now, Alvey will attempt to break a long skid. He has lost six of his last seven fights, with the other appearance being a draw from 2020.
Alvey’s last fight was a split decision loss to Wellington Turman in August 2021.
