Featherweight prospect David Onama will search for his first UFC win when facing Gabriel Benitez at the promotion’s February 19th show. The fight was confirmed by the promotion earlier this week.
The new matchup is set for a “Fight Night” that is scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Onama joined the UFC roster on short notice a few months back, stepping in to replace Alan Patrick in a fight against Mason Jones. At that time, Onama boasted an impressive undefeated record of eight finish wins from the regional scene.
Onama lost his UFC debut, going the distance against Jones for a unanimous decision result. Now four months later, he is back and fighting for that first win again.
Benitez will provide a tough test for Onama, as he has 11 UFC fights under his belt thus far. However, he has struggled in recent years, winning just two of his last five bouts.
Benitez took a loss in his last appearance, getting finished by Billy Quarantillo in July.
Rising lightweight Rafael Fiziev is currently set to face veteran Rafael dos Anjos in the main event of UFC’s February 19th card. Here is the updated card:
