Two fights have recently joined UFC’s May 14th show. This includes the return of a couple veterans and the UFC debut of a “Contender Series” standout.
These new matchups are joining a “Fight Night” card that doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.
Veteran Pineda To Face Emmers At Featherweight
Daniel Pineda will fight for his second UFC win in May, facing Jamall Emmers in a featherweight bout. News of this matchup was confirmed Wednesday by Nolan King and John Morgan of MMA Junkie.
Pineda’s last fight had a no-contest result due to an accidental eye poke. While Pineda insisted that he wanted to continue fighting, a doctor at the event decided to end the bout.
Previous appearances in Pineda’s current UFC run include a stoppage win and a loss in 2020.
Emmers suffered a quick submission loss in his last fight, getting caught in an early heel hook from Pat Sabatini in August. This moved his UFC record to one win and two losses thus far.
Torres To Make UFC Debut Against Returning Camacho
Manuel Torres will make his UFC debut in May when facing experienced lightweight Frank Camacho, per Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes.
Torres secured a spot on the UFC roster in October, stopping Kolton Englund in the first round of a fight on the TV show “Dana White’s Contender Series.” This was his third consecutive first-round finish win as a pro.
Camacho will be making his return in this fight, competing for the first time in nearly two years. His last appearance was in June 2020, where short-notice opponent Justin Jaynes stopped him in 41 seconds.
Camacho was first set to return last year against Matt Frevola, although he had to get taken out of the fight after being involved in a car crash.
Camacho might be in a potential must-win position in May, as he has lost four of his last five pro fights.
