Gunnar Nelson has received a new opponent for his return later this month. The veteran fighter is now expected to face Takashi Sato instead of Claudio Silva on March 19th, per a report from Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The new matchup is joining UFC’s event at the O2 Arena in London, England.
Sato is stepping in with the goal of returning to the win column. His last appearance was over a year ago, where Miguel Baeza secured a submission win over him.
Nelson will be fighting for the first time since September 2019. The 13-fight UFC vet is returning with a two-fight losing streak.
Silva reportedly had to pull out of his fight against Nelson after suffering an injury. The fight was set to give him a chance to snap a two-fight losing streak that he has developed in recent years.
