Former lightweight title challengers Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson are expected to meet at UFC’s May 7th pay-per-view event, per Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated.
The fight is expected to take place at UFC 274 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
Both high-level lightweights will be fighting to snap losing streaks.
Chandler, a former Bellator Lightweight Champion, was quickly sprung into the UFC title picture last year. After winning his promotional debut, he was given a title fight to Charles Oliveira in May 2021. He came up unsuccessful in that bout, getting stopped in the second minute of their bout.
Chandler’s last fight was a unanimous decision defeat to Justin Gaethje. The three-round brawl saw both fighters consume a large amount of damage on the feet, making the battle a clear “Fight of the Year” contender for many.
Ferguson has lost three consecutive fights against some of the best in the division. His last appearance was in May 2021, where he dropped a decision to Beneil Dariush.
