Ranked bantamweights Rob Font and Marlon Vera are expected to meet in the main event of UFC’s April 30th show. News of the matchup was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN on Wednesday night.
The fight is joining a card that doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment.
Font had his climb up the bantamweight ranks stopped late last year, as Jose Aldo picked up a unanimous decision win in a main event fight. Before then, Font had a strong four-fight winning streak including a victory over former champ Cody Garbrandt.
The upcoming fight sets Vera up for his first-ever headlining appearance on a UFC card through 18 appearances. He is coming off a successful 2021, defeating Davey Grant via decision and scoring a front kick knockout win over Frankie Edgar within a year’s time.
