Undefeated flyweight Muhammad Mokaev is expected to face fellow prospect Charles Johnson at UFC’s July 23rd event. News of the matchup was first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN last week.
The matchup is scheduled to join a card that doesn’t have a confirmed location at the moment. The fight is also the first to be reported for UFC’s July 23rd event.
Mokaev had a strong UFC debut last month, stopping Cody Durden in just 58 seconds with a guillotine choke. The fight was his sixth pro win since he turned pro in 2020, and was his 28th win when taking into account his undefeated 22-fight amateur career.
Johnson will be making his UFC debut in the booking. He is coming off a dominant run in regional promotion LFA, where he picked up four consecutive wins from 2021 to 2022. His last appearance was in January, when he stopped Carlos Mota with punches in the fifth round of a title fight.
